By Year

My body of work has been dominated over the years by a series of drawings which share common characters, visual style and themes. And though these elements have evolved over the years (albeit some in more subtle ways than others), there emerges a fairly cohesive body of work for the past few years. Below are some of the major influences in my life and links to the years of work.

The new year is off to a stellar start with a new (recycled) project.
A relative slow year due to life changes and misplaced focus (as in, away from artwork). The Emperor completed the journey out of Hell and a couple of odd cards were done.
The first half of 2003 was taken up with continued focus on the mailing list with two main series - the Wall of Sound 2 and the BD Labels.

2002 was a prolific year with two Special Offers, more mailings than ever, a large increase in the number of people on the mailing list (for which Internet had been leveraged heavily) and, I believe, better work than ever. 2002 concluded with a series of drawings based on the Seven Deadly Sins & Seven Holy Virtues.

In 2001, my influences are being drawn more and more from the media and pop culture which has lead the creation of this website.

2000 was a low point in the production of artwork due to major life changes that included the purchase of a home, another promotion, two cats and a disastrous trip to Europe. I started to use more mass media resources (magazines, music videos) for inspiration for work.

In 1999, I tried briefly to go back to school and was promoted at work which started me on a managerial track. By this point, artwork was routinely touched by computers in one way or another.

1998 saw me start working at the company that I still do which expanded my skills with and access to technology.

In 1997, I have participated in a couple of shows and my academic life started to flounder so I left school. I also moved out on my own for the first time.

In the fall of 1996, I had an excellent sculpture class which heightened my interest in art objects and process related work. Working for Gallery 37 again in the summer of 1996 had a major impact including the addition of traditional mythology in my art.

During high school, I studied art and the original kernel of the ongoing narrative was planted. I graduated from high school in June of 1993, worked at Gallery 37 (a citywide youth arts program) for the first time during the summer and started college the following fall. During my college years I learned a tremendous amount about art history and theory.
