| Laurels |
Laurels are a symbol of victory.
When a character wears them it is meant to be a sign of confidence as in
the case of EC. The Greek goddess Demeter wears them not only to show off
her self-assuredness but as a sign of her affinity to plants and nature.

| Life | ![]() |
Life is a recent addition to the pantheon of characters. He was created for two reasons 1) to be a foil to Death and 2) to help facilitate the creation of new characters. Life's first creation was the third High Priestess who was crafted out of clay ala Prometheus. Life was not based on anyone. Life wears gold armor and laurels as a sign of his power and majesty. He has a horizontal stripe of face paint which was inspired Adam Ant. |
| Lion |
|
The Lion is a character that
stemmed from my drawings of the Tarot deck. On the strength card, Strength
was shown prying open the Lion's mouth and sticking his head in like the
old circus trick. The Lion then became a regular character hanging out
with the members of the court. He never forgave Strength for his early
humiliation and plotted (as much as a Lion can) for revenge which,
eventually came when the original Strength was deposed. The Lion has also
made any appearances due to his low profile which, is accommodating when
trying to fill in a composition. |
| LJ |
An example of initials being used
as a mantra. LJ meant Love Jenny and was used frequently in prints and
drawings in 1995.
|
|
| LJ2 |
An example of initials being used
as a mantra. LJ2 means Love Jessica but as it was the second LJ there was
a 2 thrown in for clarity. This was used commonly in 1996.

|
| Lock |
The lock is used as signify
something being kept inaccessible usually knowledge or something sexual.
The locks themselves are drawn as large padlocks with keyholes on the
front. One example of locks being used in this manner is on Temperance's
armor that has a series locks running up the front preventing any access.

| Logic |
|
Logic is a character that was based
on Isaac Bxxxr and replaced the other charter based on him, the
Kabalistic mage. Logic represents the ordered and cerebral side of the
mind. He seeks to influence characters to logic at the cost of emotion and
morality. The character is opposed to and often shown with Morality and
Hate, as the people they were based on were all roommates of mine along
with Isaac. In the storyline, some of Logic's accomplishments include
fighting with Strength, being taken prisoner by Love and trying to
dissuade the Emperor from listening to the Traitor. Logic is shown wearing
a black robe due to his inspiration's own dark visage. He is often shown
holding a card with a formula of some sort and math is often the language
of logic and he is often shown speaking in binary as it is one of the
simplest ways of communicating (theoretically). |
| Loreli |
|
Loreli was a character in CW2 that
has been updated into the main artistic narrative. Loreli was the coolest
warrior and son of Magnus and Louisa. He was once romantically associated
with Dabbel and is currently with Diana and has a big brotherly
relationship with Jerri. During the civil war with Prang, Loreli was
exiled with his father and not allowed to return with the other courtiers
after his father's murder. Loreli wears black armor and has black face
paint like his father and brother. |
| Louisa |
|
Louisa was a magnificent vixen that
was the only woman who was ever captivating enough to win the heart of
Magnus with whom she had two sons - Loreli and Trevor. Her brother Dominus
resented her for this romance and it lead to a breakdown in trust between
him and Magnus, which in turn lead to a civil war during which Louisa was
killed. |
| Love |
|
One of the earliest allegorical
personifications of emotions; Love is based on someone that I admired from
afar because of her beauty and style, Cerise Lxxxxg. Love's persona is one
of a giggly of schoolgirl who is out to make people happy and full of love
despite themselves. Some of her significant accomplishments include
fighting with the Emperor's Son, fighting with Apathy and tying up Hate,
Logic and Morality so they could not interfere with the Devil's insertion
of the Blue Heart into the Emperor. Love is depicted as Cerise was in a
series of photos. She wears a pink wig, a short vinyl skirt and has
pointed piercing through the tops of her ears. |
| Lucinda |
|
Lucinda is a character from CW2 who
has been updated for the main narrative. She was friends with Diana and
the object of Patrick's desire. She is naive and trusting but not much
more than a background character. A character in the graphic novel Someplace
Strange inspired her general appearance and her name was taken
from the main character of the book Roller Skates. |
| Lust |
One of the Seven Deadly Sins, the character depicting Lust is based on Vanessa Mxxxi.
|
|
| LYD |
LYD is a set of initials that has
been used very frequently in my drawings and art. It stands for Love's
Young Dream that is a fragment from the Morrissey song Yes I Am Blind. It
represents some sort of hope for a pure ideal love.
