Nat was a character from CW2 that
was updated into the main artistic narrative. She was originally based on
a girl I went to grade school with. Nat has been romantically linked with
Radius and participated in the conspiracy to assassinate Prang. She wears
black robes to signify her devious and arcane nature.
Never is a mantra that has two
meanings. First is the sense that there has never been something good. In
this sense, it is meant as relatively positive reinforcement of something
of high quality. The Edwin Collins song "Never Met a Girl Like You
Before" inspired this version of the mantra. The second
sense of the mantra is a hopeless message. In this version, it is saying
that something good is never going to happen ever.
One of the more blatant mantras
that I use it was culled from the Smiths song "Last Night I Dreamt
That Somebody Loved Me". It is meant to refer to a sense of despair.
One of the recurring themes in my
artwork is the supernatural's effect on the mundane world and trying to
explain and predict the events of life and their causes. To aid in this I
became interested in using numerology as an illustrative device and try to
predict what would happen in the future. When numbers are used in the
drawings it is usually some benchmark or reference that is being used to
predict the future. When characters have numbers referring to them it is
usually a reference to the past. Numbers are also used to represent age or
difference in age relative to me.
